WIND & STRING ORCHESTRA
WIND & STRING ORCHESTRA is mainly for high school youth. The orchestra plays symphony orchestra music as well as music meant for wind orchestras and string orchestras respectively. Here, you get to take on a bigger responsibility for your section and for how the sections work together. You play different kinds of repertoires and further your knowledge of orchestra work.
Participants
Age: ca 13–17 years
Instrument experience: 5–7 years
Orchestra experience: Good
Participation fee: 500 SEK/participant
Preparations:
Participants should be well rehearsed on the sheet music at camp start

Conductors
Marjolein Vermeeren
Terje Skomedal
Marjolein made her successful professional conducting debut with Gothenburg Wind Orchestra in 2022. She has worked with Östgötamusiken, Marinens Musikkår and Helsingborgs Symphony Orchestra, and conducted concerts with Malmö Symphony Orchestra and the Swedish Chamber Orchestra. Next season, she will debut with Norrköping Symphony Orchestra and Gotlandsmusiken. Marjolein is a flutist in Gothenburg Symphony and grew up in the south of the Netherlands where wind music is very big. She has worked a lot with youth orchestras and participated for several years at Side by Side as a conductor and instructor for the oldest participants.
Terje is a violinist from Norway and since 2009 he is the first chair for Violin 2 in Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra. He is also the concertmaster in BAGS, Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra's ownbaroque ensemble. Terje has led WIND & STRING ORCHESTRA in their string orchestra repertoaire since Side by Side 2022.
