FAQ – Questions and answers regarding the transition into a digital Side by Side

Do I get a refund of my participation fee and the fee for the accommodation I’ve booked through you?
Yes, you will receive a refund within a few weeks, and we will send out a confirmation when this is done.
Will I receive a bill, if I have chosen that mode of payment?
No, the bill will be canceled, and you do no need to pay it.
I have already paid for my trip and hotel; will you reimburse my costs?
Not in general, no. Contact your travel agent/ hotel to inquire about a refund. Otherwise, check with your insurance/credit card company.
Do I keep my place at Side by Side till next year?
No, unfortunately not. We do not yet know how next year’s camp will look regarding tracks, number of participants, etc, and so we cannot promise anyone a slot.
Can I skip the line when applying/signing up next year?
No, unfortunately not (see above).
Do I keep my place in the track I applied/was admitted to until next year?
No, unfortunately not. There will be a new application process next year.
Do I need to sign up anywhere to join Side by Side: Digital?
If you have been admitted to this year’s Side by Side, or are on the waiting list, you will receive an email with further information and an invitation to Side by Side: Digital. If you have not been admitted to this year's regular Side by Side camp, you may still be able to sign up for Side by Side: Digital here.
Do I need to apply for a slot at Side by Side: Digital if I want to play in Advanced or another track that requires an application?
If you have applied and been admitted to Side by Side, we will send you an automatic invite. to the digital camp. If you have not been admitted to this year's regular Side by Side camp, you may still be able to sign up for Side by Side: Digital here.
Can anyone join Side by Side: Digital?
Yes! As long as you are between 6 and 23 years old, and sing or play an instrument, you are welcome to join. The platform does have a max capacity however, so don't wait too long to sign up!
Does it cost anything to join Side by Side: Digital?
No, it’s free.
What equipment/software will I need to participate in Side by Side: Digital?
At a minimum you will need a smart phone and/or computer, preferably with recording capability, and your instrument/voice.
What about the concerts?
We plan to create a digital version of Festival Concert on June 16 at 3 pm.
I bought concert tickets to Side by Side – what happens to them?
Purchased Side by Side concert tickets will be refunded. Comprehensive handling may take time, but all ticket buyers will be contacted by email. Thanks in advance for your patience and understanding.

Will you have the same repertoire next year?
Most tracks will probably have a new repertoire, but some musical pieces may return.
Should I keep practicing on this year’s repertoire, if I want to join Side by Side: Digital?
Practice Circle of Life and Sida vid Sida. These are available in a new folder in the sheet music archive.
When does Side by Side: Digital start and end?
The exact start time is not finalized but the camp ends on June 16 after Festival Concert which begins at 3 pm.
Should I participate at Side by Side: Digital as a single individual or as part of a group?
You can do either or both.
Can I send videos to Side by Side: Digital?
Yes! We hope you will send us many videos during camp, before and after.
Will I get a t-shirt for Side by Side: Digital?
No, unfortunately that would be hard to solve logistically at this time.
Is there anything I need to do as a teacher participating in Side by Side: Digital?
If possible, consider gathering your (small) group so you can participate in Side by Side: Digital together on Monday/Tuesday. Please make sure everyone is well informed about the digital platform. They will need their booking number and an email address to sign up.
Can I donate funds to Side by Side?
